Hello there
As many other of my updates this one begins with, “it’s been a while since I wrote.” But maybe this time there is really a reason since I been on outreach in Ethiopia and internet doesn’t work the best there, it requires a lot of patience to use it since it’s very slow.
Now before leaving for my first time to Africa, two days after Christmas last year, we had to finish up the lecture phase of DTS 04-4, looking back on it was really amazing to see how real God had become in each of the students life and they were now eager to leave for outreach and to share about what He done in there lives.
I had team of four boys, no girls here!!! We arr. to Addis Ababa and two days later we took off to the north part Ethiopia. After one and half day on a bus we arr. in the north as the first YWAM team there. In our first city Mekele, a dessert city, we meet with the churches leaders for the province of Tigray and we introduced YWAM to them and after ten days of teaching, prayer ministry and lots of talks they gave there approval to YWAM and asked for further teams to come and work with them.
After this we began a 28 days road trip in the north where we went from city to city to find contacts and introducing YWAM to the churches there. We did this through ministering in the churches giving typical YWAM teaching and then prayer ministry.
When we got back to Addis we felt God was calling us to go south for two weeks and entering the bush. We were ending up staying with a family in a room that was 4x4 meter. In this room we slept shoulder to shoulder, 6 guys and we eat our lunch and dinner here, spaghetti with meat souse for two weeks. We did the same thing here in the south as in the north, finding contacts and introducing YWAM. Since this was the bush we walked daily to the different churches in the jungle, same days was walked 50 minutes one way to reach the church.
Back again in Addis we felt that God was calling us to go east this time. After an other long day on a bus from the 1950 we reached Harar, the fourth most important city for Islam and a dessert city well know for its total lack of water, as a team we were given 8 liters per day to wash our self with. We continued to pioneering YWAM here and we also worked with the Great commission doing street evangelism. We reached about 50 people on the streets in one week
After our two weeks in Harar we had four days of debriefing and then our time in Ethiopia was over.
When it was all over, after 65 days, we five guys plus our guide, had been teaching more then 4000 people, established 25 new contacts for YWAM Ethiopia and saw many people getting healed and also many being baptized with the Holy Spirit. Over all a very fruitful and good time.
Returning back to Lausanne/ Switzerland we finished up the school debrief with
DTS 04-4 and then staff debrief.
Now after almost three years in Lausanne I feel that God is calling me home for a while. I got a word last year of going home to prepare for my future, what this mean I don’t know at this point. But I know that is best to be in His will. I have a bank and student loan which I want to pay off. I’m leaving next Wednesday, March 30.
My girlfriend Katie Cebuliak will come with me to Sweden for ten days, “meet the parents” is coming up and I’m looking forward to show her around.
I will update you when I know more about what is to happen in my life. Thanks to all of you how has been praying for me through this time. Take care and be safe…
God’s bless- David.O |
